An Industrial Success Story

Advanced Industrial Bearings and Power Transmission Products Since 1963

When you partner with Scheerer Bearing, you work with a team of industrial bearing experts with application know-how spanning over seven decades.

Scheerer is a leader in advanced bearing engineering & manufacturing. We offer far more than a standard bearing manufacturer. We design and manufacture complex ball and roller bearings. We recondition large bearings operating in extreme environments for industrial giants. Our engineering group helps develop and manufacture bearings for the next generation of frictionless machinery for Original Equipment Manufacturers.

Our corporate offices and manufacturing facilities are located in Southeastern Pennsylvania just outside Philadelphia.

April 1960 – A Journey from Brazil to America

In April of 1960 Pedro Rymar packed a suitcase and left Brazil with his wife, three small children and $200.00 in his pocket. That was all he had left after recovering from rheumatic fever caused by routinely working 18 hours days as manufacturing manager of the 200 person machining department at Klabin Paper Company located in Monte Alegre. Klabin Paper is the largest paper manufacturer, exporter and recycler in Brazil.

One week after arriving in Philadelphia, not knowing any English, Pedro found a job as a factory helper at Zubler Bearing Company owned by the German born Scheerer brothers, Kurt and Eric.

By 1963 Pedro was running the factory as plant manager. That same year a devastating fire completely destroyed the Zubler Bearing factory.

Kurt and Eric decided to rebuild but they parted ways as partners. Kurt kept the Zubler name and Eric along with Pedro as a new partner cofounded Scheerer Bearing Corporation in August of 1963 with Pedro running the manufacturing side and Eric as president running the administrative side.

In 1978 Pedro bought Eric’s interest in Scheerer Bearing becoming the second president and CEO. Today the company is still owned by the Rymar Family with Pedro’s son George serving as the third President and CEO of Scheerer Bearing.

George carries on the tradition of excellence for which Scheerer is known. Under his leadership Scheerer Bearing has continued to grow. In 1993 he designed and oversaw a major expansion at the Horsham facility and in 2012 developed and led the addition of a new facility in Willow Grove, PA that houses corporate offices, warehouse and a manufacturing plant for large ball and roller bearings over 25 inches in diameter.

After graduating from Villanova University in 2006 with a finance degree, Peter Rymar became the third generation to join the business. Peter has held multiple positions in the company and is now the GM and Executive Vice President. He is leading Scheerer towards digital transformation, innovation and globalization.

Custom Bearing Engineering

Unlike other bearing manufacturers that focus on mass production, Scheerer works regularly with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and bearing designers to create solutions that put form, fit and functionality first. When designing a new piece of equipment or re-engineering an older design for improved functionality, we encourage you to test our expertise and creativity.

Our team can review your CAD designs and offer insights you may not have considered.
